Video Editing is hard...
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 12:28AM Video Editing is hard. well its not really hard but time consuming. working until 630 then going for a climb, driving home eating dinner then finally start working its 10 finally get the brunt force editing done by 12:30. i still probably have 2 more hours of editing to do to get the post production effects in and sharpen up exactly where the clips start and stop.
its hard but man is it fun, the 2.5 hours have flown by as i move clips around and figure out where interesting things where said and not said. its amazing how much film it takes in order to make a decent interview happen.
i am learning how to become a better interviewer by having to listen to myself interact with josh through out the interview. a couple of things i noticed
- bob shut up
- bob shut up
- get a mic closer to the person being interviewed so the sound quality does not suck
- ask 1 question at a time not multiple
- allow a pause between when the person finishes there statement to when i ask the next question.
i have found that i love to interview people and see what other peoples perspective is on things that they care about.
The interview with SpeedySasquatch should be up tomorrow.

You're all good, my friend! You'll have it worked out in no time. The interview was good and engaging ... it's all going to come down to where you keep the recording device.
Funny. Hacvent seen the video yet cause I am at work, b ut your self analysis is funny
On the interviewing points.....
a pause is not a bad thing...especially if you are really listening to what the person said and have a good followup questions.
Listening is the key to interviewing.
My old bosses (I am in the tv media) always said.....
"God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason"
good luck
